All girls from the age of 5 years (kindergarten) through 13 years (eight grade) are invited to join the troops here at St. Bede’s. Troop meetings are held on various afternoons in the school hall. The Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills that will serve them all their lives.
Membership in Girl Scouts here at St. Bede’s, with an emphasis on encouraging spiritual growth, entitles girls of the parish to participate in service, learning, and fun activities – Baby Bundles, skill games, crafts, special outings, and nature hikes – as well as other Girl Scout-sponsored events with adults serving in a leadership capacity.
The Girl Scout program is based on four goals:
- Develop girls to their full individual potential.
- Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
- Develop values to guide girl’s actions and provide the foundation for sound decision making.
- Contribute to the improvement of society through use of abilities and leadership skills, working in cooperation with others.
