Lectors Eligibility & Commitment

The pastor himself deputes lectors for this ministry.  A Lector must be a baptized Catholic who attends Mass weekly, lives according to the faith’s moral teachings, and possesses the necessary public speaking ability.  The Lector proclaims the Scriptures from the depths of their own lived faith.

If you feel Our Lord is calling you to serve the Church as a Lector, please see one of the priests or Matt Ruel.

Most Lectors are scheduled to read at one weekend Mass per month, generally the same Mass every month.  The Lector is responsible for contacting their fellow Lectors and arranging coverage if he/she cannot fulfill their obligation.

In most cases, two lectors are assigned for each Mass.

Each reading during the Liturgy of the Word should have its own Lector.  However, occasionally, the same Lector may proclaim more than one reading.
